Task Force Speaks to Camden County College Police Academy

Task force member Patty DiRenzo spoke to recruits on April 1st at the Camden County College Police Academy about her son Sal, who she lost to an overdose in September 2010.

Her presentation is part of the Addiction Awareness Task Force’s mission to raise awareness about the addiction epidemic and reduce stigma about the disease.

Police academy recruits are trained to understand addiction as a medical condition, which helps officers make practical decisions when interacting with people who are addicted. Our officers are among those on the front lines in the battle against addiction and it is important that they have the tools and training to cope with these issues.
